Director Raja Krishna Menon, who was set to direct a biopic on Asian Video games gold medal-winning former boxer Dingko Singh, mourned the athlete’s loss of life and stated he’s saddened by the truth that a movie couldn’t be made on his life whereas he was nonetheless alive. Singh died on Thursday after an extended battle with liver most cancers on the age of 42. Menon, who has helmed Akshay Kumar‘s “Airlift” and Saif Ali Khan-starrer “Chef”, had introduced the film on Singh’s life in 2019.

“It is unfortunate and terrible. This has come as a shock. I knew he was ill and suffering but I didn’t know it was this bad. He was a wonderful human being and a spiritual person. It is unfortunate that we couldn’t make the film before he could have seen it,” Menon instructed PTI.

The biopic, which was deliberate with Shahid Kapoor as Singh, has been placed on maintain.

“The film got stuck.We will see what happens,” Menon stated, including, Singh was conscious that the mission was on maintain.

“He needed the movie to be made as a result of he needed the story to be instructed to encourage folks. He was a practical individual.


He by no means known as me or requested why it was caught. “This film needs to be made. It is a story that has to be told. It is a tremendous story and a tribute is due to him. I do believe this film needs to be made,” he added.

The director stated what drew him to make a movie on Singh was his combating spirit.

“He’s a supply of inspiration for everybody. He got here from a really poor household, grew up in an orphanage, he was a fighter and single-minded about what he did.

“At that time of time, he was a world degree sportsman with none amenities. It was purely due to his gumption and intestine.

He was completely different from anybody I had met,” he added.

Singh received the Asian Video games gold in 1998 and was bestowed the Arjuna award the identical yr. In 2013, he was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to the game. The Manipur-based former boxer, who was employed with the Navy, had taken to teaching after hanging up his gloves.
